Op 21 juli 1919 richtte Fokker de Nederlandse Vliegtuigenfabriek op. Dit kon hij doen met steun van familie, de Steenkolen Handels Vereniging (SHV) (eigendom van de families van Beuningen en Fentener van Vlissingen) en enkele rijke particulieren.
We zijn nu 90 jaar verder maar Ton (en ik ook niet) zal deze historische gebeurtenis kunnen vieren.
Ik hoop wel dat er in de media nog wat aandacht aan dit feit zal worden besteed want tenslotte is Fokker ooit de grootste vliegtuigfabriek ter wereld geweest.
Er is eigenlijk maar een bedrijf beter geworden van het faillissement in 1996 en dat is de voormalige kippenslachter Stork inmiddels ook al weer opgesplitst en overgenomen door de durfkapitalisten.
Stork Aerospace schrijft zelf zijn historie en memoreert dat in 2009 het 90 jaar geleden is dat de Fokker vliegtuigfabriek werd opgericht. Ik wacht gespannen af wat Stork in petto heeft voor de (oud) Fokker medewerkers......
1996-2009 'Stork Aerospace'
In 1996 Stork acquired Fokker and the company successfully changed from aircraft integrator into a specialist for structures, wiring and services with an impressive portfolio.
In 2002 Stork Aerospace receives the Flight award for the development of Glare, in 2003 Stork Aerospace opens a new facility for Glare. Glare is a revolutionary new FML (Fibre Metal Laminate) material of which 500m2 is applied in the Airbus A380.
In 2003 Stork Aerospace is selected by Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman as a main supplier of wiring, in-flight opening doors and arresting gear for the Lockheed Martin JSF (Joint Strike Fighter)
In 2005 Stork Aerospace receives the Flight award for the succesful re-marketing programs of the the Fokker Aircraft. The Future 50 and the Future 100 programs.
In 2006 Stork Aerospace takes over AIRINC in the USA
In 2007 Stork Aerospace is selected as supplier for the Boeing 747-800 Inboard Flaps. This contract is considered a break-through in the relationship with Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
February 2008 Stork Company is de-listed from the stock exchange, the company with two divisions (technical services and aerospace) is now under ownership of private equity fund Candover
March 2008 Stork Aerospace announced to be selected by Gulfstream to design and produce the composite tail and fuselage panels for the all new G650 business jet
2009 Stork Aerospace celebrates the companies 90th anniversary, 90 years ago aviation pioneer and entrepreneur Anthony Fokker founded the company
